Israel Warns of Growing Iranian Threat
Israel has reiterated its determination to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, warning that Tehran’s ballistic missile arsenal poses a significant global threat. Speaking in an interview, Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, said Israel and the United States are closely cooperating to address Iran’s military ambitions. According to him, the two allies are united in their strategy to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear capabilities and to weaken its missile systems. “We will make sure they don’t have nuclear capabilities,” Danon said. “We will deal with the ballistic missile threat because thousands of ballistic missiles can pose a threat similar to a nuclear bomb.”
Strong US-Israel Cooperation
The ambassador emphasized that the level of cooperation between Israel and the United States is stronger than ever. He dismissed claims that Washington is simply supporting Israel’s actions, insisting the two countries are working as equal partners after sharing intelligence about Iran’s intentions. Danon also referenced comments by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who described the Iranian threat as imminent and warned that Tehran could target US bases in the region if tensions escalate. “I haven’t seen the level of cooperation between Israel and the US like we do today,” Danon said. “We fight together, we win together.”
Lessons From North Korea
Danon warned that delaying action against Iran could repeat the mistakes made with North Korea, which successfully developed nuclear weapons while the international community hesitated. He argued that if Iran were allowed to develop nuclear warheads capable of being mounted on ballistic missiles, the consequences would be devastating for cities across the Middle East and beyond. “What would have happened in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Cyprus, Europe, and the entire world if Iran had nuclear ballistic warheads?” he asked.
Iran’s Missile Capability Appears to Decline
Israel also believes recent military operations have significantly weakened Iran’s missile capabilities. Danon noted that Iran launched nearly 100 rockets on the first day of hostilities, but the number has steadily decreased in recent days. According to Israel’s assessment, this drop reflects the success of Israeli strikes in degrading Iranian military infrastructure. However, he acknowledged that Iran still retains some capacity to launch missiles because many are hidden in tunnels and caves. “They prepared for that moment,” he said. “They placed ballistic missiles underground, which makes them difficult to eliminate completely.”
Message to the Iranian People
Danon also addressed the people of Iran directly, urging them to take control of their country’s future. He suggested that current developments could open the door for political change within Iran. “Be free, be strong, take the future in your hands,” he said. “The world is supporting you.”
