NPP MP Court Case Win: Hon. Matthew Nyindam Retains Kpandai Seat After NDC Challenge Fails
Supreme Court overturns the High Court ruling for Kpandai seat
The Supreme Court has today ruled in favor of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Kpandai in a 4-1 vote to overturn the High Court ruling, Hon. Matthew Nyindam, following a legal challenge filed by the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) contesting his parliamentary seat.
The case, which stemmed from the most recent parliamentary elections, sought to overturn Hon. Nyindam’s victory on grounds of alleged electoral irregularities. After reviewing submissions and evidence from both parties, the court dismissed the petition, effectively affirming Hon. Nyindam’s mandate as the duly elected Member of Parliament for the Kpandai Constituency.

In delivering its judgment, the court held that the petitioners failed to establish a sufficient legal and factual basis to invalidate the election results. The ruling brings an end to months of legal uncertainty surrounding the Kpandai seat.
Following the decision, supporters of the NPP described the outcome as a victory for democracy and due process, emphasizing that the will of the electorate must always be respected. Party sources also noted that the judgment reinforces confidence in Ghana’s judicial and electoral systems.
The National Democratic Congress is yet to officially announce whether it will pursue further legal options.
With the court challenge now resolved, Hon. Matthew Nyindam is expected to concentrate fully on his legislative responsibilities and development initiatives within the Kpandai Constituency.
