Ghanaian hip-life artist Belinda Nana Ekua Amoah, popularly known as Mzbel, has addressed a series of allegations and rumours circulating about her, firmly denying claims that she had any inappropriate encounter with King Promise, sucking her breast in the studio. According to the singer, “The widely circulated story alleging that King Promise engaged in inappropriate conduct with her, sucking her breast in the studio, is completely false.” She emphasized that she has never even met the artist in person, adding that she is looking forward to collaborating with him on a song. Mzbel further disclosed that her legal team had been contacted to take action over the defamatory publication. However, the individual responsible later admitted to reposting the claim from social media, apologized, and subsequently retracted the statement.

The controversy deepened when a social media personality, Osofo Kamchacha, alleged that Mzbel had previously claimed a Ghanaian pastor raped her. In response, the artist challenged him to provide evidence to support the claim of saying that on any platform, which Kumchacha failed to do. Mzbel has consistently denied ever making such allegations on any platform against any pastor raping her. During a discussion on a United Showbase television program. The television host and a panel member, Nana Frimpong Ziga, revisited a past armed robbery and rape incident involving the artist. The reminder visibly affected Mzbel, who became emotional during the discussion, drawing sympathy from panelists. Expressing her frustration, Mzbel lamented the persistent spread of false narratives about her, noting that she has often remained silent while her reputation suffered.

She cited the controversial “Papa No” saga, which she insists she had no involvement in, as one of the incidents that negatively impacted her relationship with a political party she had supported. “I have been quiet on certain lies against me for so long, yet no one has defended me,” she said. “When I speak, they say I talk too much; when I remain silent, they assume the allegations are true. Did anyone actually hear me say “Papa No”?” In a show of goodwill, Nana Frimpong Ziga apologized to the artist on air for bringing up the painful past incident and requested a hug, which Mzbel accepted. The popular Hiplife artist Mzbel’s stage persona and social media humour are sometimes misunderstood by the public, contributing to negative perceptions about her, despite a different reality experienced by those who interact with her personally.
