U.S. President Donald Trump delivered a passionate speech to Republican lawmakers and supporters, praising the strength of the United States military while sharply criticizing Democrats over national security and immigration policies.
Speaking during a Republican gathering, Trump highlighted past military operations against terrorist threats, including targeting the mastermind behind deadly roadside bomb attacks used against U.S. troops in conflict zones. According to Trump, such improvised explosive devices caused devastating casualties among American soldiers.
“We took him out,” Trump said, referring to a militant leader responsible for roadside bomb attacks. He described the individual as “vicious, violent, and capable,” stressing that eliminating him prevented further threats to U.S. forces.
The president also reflected on a recent visit to Dover Air Force Base, where he met families of fallen American service members whose remains had returned to the United States. Trump described the experience as emotional and praised the military personnel who support grieving families. “The hardest thing to do is to go to Dover,” he said. “But the families told me one thing—make sure you win.”
Trump used the speech to reiterate his tough stance on national security, arguing that the United States must defeat terrorism and prevent future threats from hostile nations. He also accused Democrats in Congress of undermining national security, particularly over immigration policies and debates surrounding the Department of Homeland Security.
During the address, Trump criticized members of the Democratic Party for opposing a congressional resolution that declared Iran the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism. He questioned why lawmakers would vote against such a measure and accused them of prioritizing immigration policies over public safety.
The US president also blamed the administration of Joe Biden for what he described as weak border security and rising crime caused by illegal immigration. Trump claimed that during his leadership, crime and murder rates had reached historic lows and that stronger border enforcement was necessary to keep the country safe.
Trump further argued that the United States has regained global respect and economic strength, citing stock market gains and rising incomes as signs of a strong economy. He also pointed to tensions with countries such as Iran and Venezuela as examples of how he believes American military strength has been demonstrated on the global stage.
He concluded by urging Republicans to remain united and continue pushing policies focused on security, economic growth, and support for American workers and families.
