FA charges Brentford and Aston Villa for behaviour of their teams

Aston Villa and Brentford have been charged by the Football Association for the behavior of their teams during their Premier League game on Sunday.

Villa striker Ollie Watkins scores the winner in a 2-1 victory at his former club and his celebration sparked a scuffle between the players.

Villa’s Boubacar Kamara was sent off in injury time for shoving Brentford’s Yehor Yarmoliuk in the face.

The clubs have until Friday, December 22 to respond.

“Brentford allegedly failed to ensure that their players did not behave in an improper and/or provocative way during the 85th minute,” said an FA statement.

“It’s further alleged that the club failed to ensure their players and/or technical area occupants did not behave in an improper and/or provocative way during the 98th minute.

“Aston Villa also allegedly failed to ensure that their players did not behave in an improper and/or provocative way during the 85th minute.

“It’s further alleged that the club failed to ensure their players and/or technical area occupants did not behave in an improper and/or provocative and/or violent way during the 98th minute.”

Overall, there were two red cards, 10 other players booked and both Bees boss Thomas Frank and Villa manager Unai Emery bailed in the match.

In addition to Kamara being dismissed late on, Brentford defender Ben Mee was sent-off for a tackle on Leon Bailey.
