Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister’s injury “doesn’t look good”, says Reds boss Jurgen Klopp.
He carried on playing but was substituted after 57 minutes and later had his wound stitched up.
“Macca doesn’t look good, so we have to see day by day,” said Klopp ahead of Saturday’s trip to Crystal Palace (12:30 GMT).
“They were pretty hopeful after the game that it was not serious. It’s not that serious, but in the period of the year if you are out for five days, it’s 12 games pretty much.”
Klopp added: “I don’t expect him to be ready for [Saturday]. I don’t know about Thursday or Sunday after that, so it’s pretty much stop and go. We have to see.”
Liverpool are away to Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise in the Europa League on Thursday and have already qualified for the knockout stages after securing top spot in their ongoing group.
They then host Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday, 17 December.
Brazil keeper Alisson could return for the Reds at Palace after returning to training following a hamstring injury suffered against Manchester City on 25 November.
“Looks good,” said Klopp on Alisson. “I don’t know if good enough for [Saturday]I have to check that.”
Liverpool defender Joel Matip has joined long-term absentees Andy Robertson, Thiago Alcantara and Stefan Bajcetic on the sidelines at the club.
He could miss the rest of the season after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and the 32-year-old’s contract runs out next summer.
Asked about Matip’s future, Klopp said: “I’m pretty sure the club will show their class. He deserves all the support from us and he will get it.”
We have a new contract for Matip: “I would say so, but it’s not my decision.”
