Jurgen Klopp has refused to take Everton lightly despite the Liverpool’s dominance of the Merseyside derby ahead of their meeting at Anfield on Saturday.
Liverpool have only suffered defeat once in their last 28 meetings with their local rivals, a 2-0 home loss in 2021.
The match was just Everton’s third win at Anfield in the Premier League.
It’s a special game, a high-pressure game and they all played them. They are used to the kind of game,’ Klopp said.
‘The facts are Everton are in a good moment. They successfully stayed up (last season) when it was not easy and last few weeks they had good results.

‘We always try to make sure we don’t think about records and these types of things.
‘We have to make sure that we are really ready for the game and understand the importance of the game and understand the pressure of it.
‘I can’t remember ever thinking “the derby is at the weekend” and having enjoyed this thought.
‘There is a lot of intensity even before the first ball is kicked, you have to channel that in the right areas, with all the extra motivation from outside and play the game you want to play.
‘They definitely deserve the respect because they do really well.’
