Mahama SONA Address: I Will Build Conferences and Events Infrastructure Expansion
The John Dramani Mahama government plans to refurbish the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) to restore its historic status as Ghana’s primary international events center. Structural integrity assessments were conducted by Eneco Projects Ghana Limited.
Work is expected to begin within weeks. Additionally, a new private sector-supported convention and creative events center will be developed to position Ghana as West Africa’s leading hub for national unity and cultural identity. President Mahama emphasized that Ghana’s global reputation is a collective national asset. Referring to a recent international cultural misunderstanding involving Ghanaian identity, he said the episode demonstrated the country’s ability to:

- Turn potential negative publicity into positive diplomatic engagement.
He called for unity, noting that national progress depends on shared purpose.
